Lifestyle Hydration Drip

The Soother

A magnesium-forward drip for tense muscles and a tense mind

$19945 minutesFrisco, TX
The Soother at The DRIPBaR Frisco

Tense muscles and a tense mind tend to travel together. The Soother is magnesium-forward and runs a little longer than our other drips, because magnesium is best given slowly.

Featured ingredients

At a glance

What this session offers

A plain description of what is in the bag and what happens while you are here.

Magnesium-forward formulation

The most-studied ingredient for headache-related support, delivered at an unhurried rate.

Forty-five unhurried minutes

Longer than our standard drips by design — the slower rate is more comfortable.

Neuromuscular support

Calcium and magnesium act as partial physiological counterweights in nerve and muscle signalling.

A genuinely relaxing session

Reclined, quiet, and nobody rushing you.

The science

What the research actually shows

We would rather tell you where the evidence is strong, where it is thin, and where it simply does not exist yet.

What magnesium does at the receptor level

Magnesium gates the NMDA receptor, modulates cortical excitability and cerebral vascular tone, and is a cofactor in over 300 enzyme systems. The American Academy of Neurology and American Headache Society have concluded that oral magnesium is 'probably effective' for migraine prevention.

IV magnesium for an acute attack is unsettled

A 2019 systematic review in Headache covering seven randomised trials and 545 participants found improvement in pain intensity at 60-120 minutes but not earlier, with inconsistent results for 50% pain reduction. The authors were unable to draw a firm conclusion. Patients with migraine with aura showed more consistent improvement. This is an area of active research.

Taurine as an inhibitory neuromodulator

Taurine hyperpolarises neurons via chloride channels, buffers intracellular calcium and has been studied for neuroprotection against glutamate excitotoxicity. Mechanistically relevant to excitability; no migraine-specific clinical trials exist.

Do not overlook the fluid

Dehydration is a commonly reported headache trigger, so some of the benefit people report from any drip may simply be volume replacement.

Who commonly considers this: Adults with recurring tension, stress or headache patterns looking for magnesium-focused support alongside care from their own physician.

Safety, screening & contraindications

  • A new, sudden-onset, or 'worst ever' headache, or headache with neurological deficits, fever, or following head injury, is an emergency evaluation — not a drip.
  • Renal impairment is the critical contraindication: the kidneys are the sole route of magnesium elimination.
  • Infusion-related flushing, warmth and transient low blood pressure are common; rate matters.
  • Caution with myasthenia gravis, heart block and calcium channel blockers. Calcium is contraindicated with digoxin.
