A 2022 systematic review in Antioxidants found supportive but heterogeneous evidence for vitamin C supplementation in tissue healing, with the strongest rationale in people who are deficient.
Perioperative immunonutrition formulas containing arginine have reduced infectious complications and shortened stays in some surgical meta-analyses. Those studies used oral or enteral formulas over days to weeks — not a single IV infusion. We are borrowing the mechanism, not the outcome data.
Correction helps deficient patients. There is no good evidence that extra zinc speeds healing in someone already replete.
