The science

Oral vitamin C absorption falls below 50% above 1 g/day and plasma levels plateau regardless of how much you take. Only intravenous delivery reaches pharmacologic concentrations, and it does so for a matter of hours.
Vitamin C is actively concentrated in neutrophils and lymphocytes and supports epithelial barrier function, phagocytosis and oxidant scavenging.
Zinc is required for protein and DNA synthesis, cell division and immune cell development. Deficiency measurably impairs immune response; restoring adequacy is the defensible claim.
